Responsibilities
Your primary responsibility will be to gather research, develop a strategy, and establish key partnerships to turn our existing suite of components—including a piloted course, a forthcoming book that explains the framework of the course, and the instructor’s academic profile—into a long-term, financially sustainable course or independent school.
Deliverables
- Research: Package 4 to 6 in-depth case studies or existing models of how relevant schools and courses were started, operate, and sustain themselves. Illustrate offerings and formats that potential stakeholders and partners may value. (Weeks 1–4)
- Planning: A new action plan for the course. Including research, strategy, timeline, funding model, and budgeting with projected income and expenses. (Weeks 5–9)
- Implementation: As a representative of our project, secure important partnership(s) essential for establishing a long-term and financially sustainable course (i.e., contacting and partnering with an institute, university, funder, course venue, etc., depending on the strategy). (Weeks 10–14)
One Week in Person
One week in late April or early May (dates TBD) on-site in Aarhus, Denmark
- Travel budget to and from Aarhus, Denmark: up to 6,000 DKK total. Approx. $870 USD / €800
- Accommodation budget: 7 nights in Aarhus, 10,000 DKK, budget to be shared with 1 fellow team member. Approx. $1,460 USD / €1,330 EUR

What We Strongly Value
- Enthusiasm about leading outreach and making new contacts and partnerships in the art, design, and culture fields.
- Experience applying political values to your approach. Specifically, liberation, accountability, and abolition-oriented principles.
- Accountable, transparent, and warm communication style
- Interest in longer-term collaboration and development of the project. (Includes remote collaboration)
- We strongly encourage racialized folks to apply.
- 8+ years in design consulting, education strategy, service design, business development in art and culture contexts, or equivalent
- 2+ years applying socio-political principles to your practice
- Master’s in design strategy, business development, or equivalent
Who We Are
Centre for Nordic Otherwise is a pilot project based in Aarhus, Denmark created to address the urgent need for many more spaces where racialized individuals in western contexts, who are working towards liberation through conceptual and artistic means, can find support. We are made possible by the Nordic Culture Fund.
Team
- Founder, Myriam Diatta: 15+ years experience as transdisciplinary design consultant, educator, facilitator, and design researcher specializing in art, design, and politics (NYC, Melbourne, currently based in Aarhus, Denmark)
- Coordinator, Yasmin Ibrahim: 5+ years of experience in cultural production, curation, coordination and project work in the arts and social justice fields (Egypt, US, currently based in Finland)
